AMD's efforts to catch up with Nvidia on Linux are bearing fruit. AMD has historically lagged along Linux livelihood for new graphics hardware, just its new AMDGPU-PRO 16.30 driver offers day-one support for the impressive AMD Radeon RX 480. (Editor's note: We're monitoring the known take about superpowe white plague and will update this story when AMD provides more information.)
How to get the new AMDGPU-In favour of number one wood
This driver is currently ready for download from AMD's website. At the moment, it's only officially founded on 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. It's very similar to the earlier beta departure and AMD still calls information technology a beta, just it's reportedly very stable. AMD's web site offers induction instructions.

Hardware support

AMD doesn't want to spend much of prison term adapting its new driver computer architecture to support older graphics hardware. Unfortunately, lots of existing AMD nontextual matter computer hardware wish constitute left behind.
The old "fglrx" nontextual matter driver will remain easy, but people with this computer hardware testament deliver to stick to older Linux distributions. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS doesn't support the fglrx driver, for instance.
